Nerja, coastal village located in the province of Malaga, is one of the major tourist destinations on the Costa del Sol. This warm village on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea has several Spanish schools where students can start or improve their knowledge of Spanish. Nerja is a destination indicated for people who want to combine their Spanish language study in a small tourist destination whose main attraction are its beautiful beaches and its warm climate.

Throughout the village, we found a total of ten beaches, all of which are very popular with German, British, Swedish and Dutch tourists. Despite the strong influence of tourism, the beaches are excellently preserved. The main beaches of the town have facilities to serve visitors and a promenade where there are numerous restaurants and shops. In some of the beaches is possible to make water sports such as scuba diving, kayaking or to fly from a boat in paragliding over the sea.

In the historic center of Nerja is the famous 'Balcony of Europe' from where you can enjoy fantastic views over the Mediterranean Sea and at times the African coast. This huge 'terrace to the sea' is the main meeting point of the village and from there you can start a route into the center of Nerja.

"La Cueva de Nerja", prehistoric large cave, is only 5 kilometers from the village. This is one of the most visited natural monuments of Spain and there is held annually the International Festival of Music and Dance.

Nerja is a unique starting point for numerous trips to other Andalusian cities such as Malaga, Granada and Cordoba. Some villages of interest in the nearby of Nerja are located in the Shire of the Axarquía: Frigiliana, Alcaucín, Colmenar and Competa.
