Benalmadena

Situated at the southern coast of Spain and only 22 km away from Malaga, capital of the Costa del Sol, the town of Benalmadena is splittet in three districts.

In the historic center Benalmadena-Pueblo, at the foot of the mountains of the Sierra de Mijas, the houses are painted white and adorned with flowers like it is typical for this region which always invites you to sit down, have a coffee and enjoy the sight.

The Destrict of Benalmadena-Costa is the more influenced by the tourists part of Benalmadena. Here you can find hotels, bars, restaurants and nightclubs as well as the Puerto Marina of Benalmadena, which was awarded as the most beautyful marina of the world by a british real estate magazine. This destrict is very interesting especially for young people because of the bars and night clubs, where you can spent the nights dancing and partying or sit in the cozy bars and cafes and enjoy the spanish spirit.

In the district of Arroyo de la Miel there are tourist attractions, hotels and residential areas. It is a little behind the Puerto Marina and is the today's city center. The train station and the lower station of the Cable Car or teleferico ride can be found here too.

Because of the wonderful location on the Costa del Sol and the extensive sandy beaches, Benalmadena has become a very touristic place and offers visitors a wide range of leisure activities and attractions. The cable car ride teleferico takes you to the top of the mountain Monte Calamarro, 800 meters above the sea, where ou have the chance to enjoy a great panoramic view of the surrounding area. Not only the villages and the coast of the Costa del Sol, even the coast of the Africa can be seen on clear days.

Also the amusement park Tivoli World is located in Benalmadena and close to it the zoo Selvo Marina which has opened in 2003 with a Dolphinarium and a Penguinarium.

With 33 meters, the biggest Buddhist Stupa of the western world opened in 2003 in Benalmadena - a magical place for dreaming. If you cycle it a few times with the right side of your body turned to the Stupa, they say it will have a positive effect on your way to release yourself out of the cycle of life and reincarnation.

The Puerto Marina is also worth seeing, it was repeatedly awarded and can accommodate up to 1100 boars with up to 35 meters in length. Sitting in a cafe, having a beer or a coffee and enjoyng this great views - wonderful!
