Valencia
Valencia, the third largest city in Spain, located on the shores of the Mediterranean Sea, is a large city that impresses visitors with its architectural variety and wide range of cultural and leisure activities. Valencia has become in the last ten years one of the favorite destinations for students who wish to do a Spanish course in a coastal city in Spain.
Valencia has been inhabited by many different people since it has been founded more than two thousand years ago. The legacy of this history is reflected in the many monuments that make up its historic center, such as St. Mary's Cathedral, the Tower of Miguelete, the Lonja de la Seda and the Central Market in Valencia. In the historical center, composed by multitude pedestrian streets and squares, you find a great variety of shops, restaurants and terraces where you can enjoy the good climate and the rich and varied gastronomy.
Other major attractions of the city are the long beaches and promenades, usually with flea markets, restaurants, cafes and even artists that play live music or make entertainment.
Recently opened and just a few kilometers from the old town is the City of Arts and Sciences of Valencia. This is an architectural and cultural complex made up of several buildings: the Hemisphere, the Science Museum Principe Felipe, the Oceanografic, L'Umbracle and the Palace of Arts Reina Sofia.
Valencia is particularly well known for holding the popular festival of "Las Fallas", which take place burning artistic compositions performed throughout the year (Ninots), fireworks (mascletá) and fireworks.
