Sevilla, on the banks of the Guadalquivir River, is a unique city where the reflection of the purest essence of Andalusia is the protagonist in each of its colorful spots. The Cathedral, built on an ancient mosque, is the largest gothic cathedral in the world. Its bell tower, La Giralda, is considered the symbol of the city and from there you can enjoy a wonderful view over Sevilla. Near this monument are the Royal Alcázares, built by the Arabs and used by them as a place of residence. In its beautiful gardens are held in summer many open air concerts.
Along the river Guadalquivir is the Torre del Oro, used in the Middle Ages as a prison, now houses the Naval Museum of Seville. Near the river Guadalquivir are the Barrios de Triana and Santa Cruz, made up of narrow cobbled streets, squares and corners where the scent of flamenco and fiesta is present day and night.
The "Semana Santa" in Seville, popular celebration of Catholic origin, is one of the most famous and visited in Spain and takes place between March and April. After the "Semana Santa" is celebrated the "Feria de Abril" where dancing sevillanas, eating the typical Andalusian dishes, drinking local wines and have fun is the main goal.
Nature lovers will not have to move too much away to tour the beautiful Doñana National Park (81 kms) or the Sierra Morena (40 kms). The nearest beach is Matalascakas (95 kms).
